Young Sarajevo’s group Bonton Baya was the leading music group of this city in the early 80’s, and we could even say that they were the most intellectually educated new wave rock band. To name, leading the group Nenad Strbac, composer, vocals & guitar, law graduate; bassist Zlatan Cico, electrotechnical graduate; guitarist Nikša Bratoš, electrotechnical graduate; drummer Ademir Volić, architectural graduate; pianist, keys Damir Misirlić, economy graduate. Their debut album Elpi was recorded in studio RT Sarajevo and produced by Nenad Jurin. 
"Šta bi dao da si na mom mjestu" is the second LP from influential Yugoslav rock group Bijelo Dugme, released in 1975. The album is a continuation of the band's early folkish hard rock sound that was displayed on their debut album Kad bi' bio bijelo dugme, again incorporating traditionalist folk elements blended with blues. Although the album was recorded in London, the lyrics and composition were written during August, September, and October 1975 in the eastern Bosnian village of Borike. The album is perhaps most memorable for its ambitious songs "Ne gledaj me tako i ne ljubi me više", "Požurite konji moji", evocative title track "Šta bi dao da si na mom mjestu", all tracks exceeding 6 minutes, and all-time hit "Tako ti je mala moja kad ljubi Bosanac".

"Kad bi bio bijelo dugme" is the 1974 debut LP from influential Yugoslav rock group Bijelo Dugme. Together with their second album Šta bi dao da si na mom mjestu, is considered the most Heavy metal driven album of their 16 year career. At the time the band was strongly influenced by popular rock pioneers such as Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, together with blues and traditional Balkan music a genre that would be further explored by band leader, chef lyricist and composer Goran Bregović in latter years. The band's name originated from the epic title track "Kad bi' bio bijelo dugme" (translation: “If I were a white button) after their manager Raka Marić convinced guitarist Goran Bregović to change it from Jutro (translation: morning).

Leb i Sol climb the top of the Yugoslavian chart and for the second album Leb i Sol 2 are being provided with much better studio conditions. Following the style of the debut album, the second album, besides the highly rate "Aber dojde Donke", offers the excellent songs "Marija", "Akupunktura" and "Talasna Duzina". In 1978, according to the readers of the music magazine "Jukebox", the most influential in Yugoslavia at that time, they received the title "Group of the year".
Leb i Sol is a Macedonian rock group founded in the 1970s by Vlatko Stefanovski (guitar), Bodan Arsovski (bass guitar), Nikola Kokan Dimuševski (keyboards) and Garabet Tavitjan (drums). Tavitjan ceded the drumwork to Dragoljub Đuričić for some of the albums, while Kiril Džajkovski replaced Kokan on Kao Kakao and Putujemo. Beside being the most eminent Macedonian band, they were also one of the most important acts of the former Yugoslav Rock scene. They recorded debut album at the studio RTV Novi Sad in September 1977 . Album was recorded in five days and produced by Katalin Farkaš. The jazz-rock themes with ethno influences dominate the album, and six themes out of nine are instrumental. All four of the members are composing, though Vlatko is the most productive one. Smak was formed in 1971 in Kragujevac, Serbia, by guitar virtuoso Radomir Mihailović, nicknamed "Točak" ("the Wheel"). The first stable line-up, in late 1974, included Točak, drummer Slobodan Stojanović Kepa, bass guitarist Zoran Milanović, singer Boris Arandjelović, and keyboardist Laza Ristovski. They released 3 SP from 1974-1975, on which appeared their hit single Ulazak u Harem (Entrance to the Harem) and they appeared as an opening act for the Deep Purple concert in Belgrade 1975. After a successful hit single and an excellent concert with Deep Purple they released their first LP called Smak 1975 and it was one of the best debut albums of all time in ex-Yugoslavia. Karizma is a Serbian and former Yugoslav hard rock/heavy metal band. They were worthy winners at Gitarijada festival in Zaječar in 1988. In 1989 they released excellent debut album "Vreme je za nas". Mrtva priroda (trans. "Still Life") is the third studio album from influential Serbian and former Yugoslav rock band Riblja Čorba. For the first time album featured a song written entirely by Momčilo Bajagić, "Ja sam se ložio na tebe". Music for "Ne veruj ženi koja puši Drinu bez filtera" was written by Bajagić, and for "Odlazak u grad" by Bajagić and Miša Aleksić. Still, Bora Đorđević remained the main author with ballad "Neću da ispadnem životinja", rock anthem "Pekar, lekar, apotekar", "Volim, volim žene", Riblja čorba's first directly political song "Na zapadu ništa novo" (named after Erich Maria Remarque's novel All Quiet on the Western Front) and other songs. Three weeks after the album was released it was sold in 100,000 copies, which was the fastest-selling album in the history of Yugoslav Rock. The final number of copies sold was 450,000.

At the end of the 1980s Bijelo Dugme made enormous success with their folk-oriented songs, and Goran Bregović suggested the Jelić brothers, the pioneers of Yugoslav folk-rock sound, to reunite YU grupa. Although they occasionally performed during the 1980s, YU grupa definitely reunited in 1987. They released their comeback album "Od zlata jabuka" ("Golden apple"), with the tittle track inspired by folk music as the main hit. Album featured keyboard player Saša Lokner as a guest musician. 
Bastion was new wave, synth-pop band, from Skopje, Macedonia, formed in 1983 by Kiril Džajkovski (keyboards), Ana Kostovska (vocals) and Ljubomir Stojsavljević (bass). Lyrics for their debut (and only) album were written by Milčo Mančevski, film director, who also directed video for their song "Hot Day In Mexico".
